Utilizing Grasshopper, a powerful computational design tool, the Sankai is crafted through algorithmic processes that challenge aesthetic norms and uncover novel, stunning shapes.
3D printing plays an important role in creating the initial model, serving as a bridge from digital design to physical form. This printed model is then used as a base for a ceramic mold, merging digital innovation with centuries-old ceramic craftsmanship. This process not only underscores the fusion of old and new but also gives the vase a distinct character, where each detail signifies the seamless integration of technique and art.
Transitioning from the 3D printed model to the final ceramic product celebrates craftsmanship, with each Sankai hand-finished, highlighting traditional artisanal value and making each piece a testament to cultural continuity through innovation.
